Month: November 2012
CWL Petition
White Ribbons Against Pornography (WRAP) is part of an international education effort to raise awareness about pornography and its corrupting effects on society. On November 17th/18th, CWL members will have a petition that can be signed by parishioners. This petition will be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Empty Stocking Fund
Registrations for the Empty Stocking Fund will take place on Thursday, November 15th from 10am – 11am (one hour only) in the Family Center. Please bring Medicare cards for all children and yourself.
Ornament Sales
Our Pewter Ornaments, designed and produced by Aitkens Pewter, are now over 75% sold. If you want one, don’t wait any longer. Email or call (653-6838) the parish office to reserve yours.
Remembrance Candle Ceremony
The tradition of our Church is to remember the holy souls in Purgatory especially during the month of November. On November 10th & 11th in a special Remembrance Candle-lighting Ceremony, everyone will have an opportunity to come forward during Mass to light a candle in memory of the members of their family who have passed on and are presently with God or still on their way to being united with our heavenly Father. It will also be an opportunity to remember those who so courageously and selflessly gave their lives in war so that we may live.
Christmas Ministry Schedule
There are sign-up sheets at the back of the church. Please check off which Masses you plan on attending so that Cindy can complete the Christmas Ministry Schedule. We ask that you please check off your name before Sunday, December 2nd.
Peace Pennies
Our Religious Education students are working on their Peace Pennies project again this year. They are filling a pickle bottle with pennies, which will be rolled and sent to the Belfast Children’s Vacation Project. Over the past 2 years they have collected approximately $600.
The children will be saving pennies until May, and parishioners are invited to bring in any unwanted pennies to go to the cause. You may put your pennies in an envelope, marked “Peace Pennies”, and put them in the collection – we’ll see to it that your pennies make their way to the bottle.
