Flowers At Entrance Of Church

Our Confirmation students have planted red & white Christmas Amaryllis plants that have been placed at the back of the church. The white in the plants represents the Holy Spirit and the red represents the blood of God’s son, Jesus.

The three plants are in 3 different stages even though they were all planted at the exact same time – similar to the parable of the sowing of the seeds.

The one plant which is still in its beginning stage is like the child who is brought to church to be baptized but then the parents never bring him/her back for Mass or Sunday School – still a live plant but the faith has not had a chance to grow yet.

The second plant which only has a single shoot right now is like a child who has been baptized and goes to Sunday School but does not attend Mass to practice their faith.

The third plant, which is beautiful and strong and has two stalks that will blossom, is like the child who was baptized, goes to Sunday School and also goes to Mass to practice their faith and grow stronger.

The flowers are growing in recycled planters as well, in order to help take care of God’s planet.
