Saint John Community Events – October 11-17, 2010

Thanksgiving Day Mass
All are invited to Stella Maris on Monday, October 11th at 12:05pm. A monetary collection will be taken up for the Saint John East Food bank. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.

Mass For Those Living With Cancer
Are you or someone close to you living with cancer? Prayerful support from people they love can be a source of strength and healing. On Monday, October 11th at 7pm, St. Pius X will offer a Mass for the intention of people living with cancer and for their families and friends. Following Mass, the Sacrament of Anointing will be offered to those who request it.

Christian Meditation
The Villa Madonna hosts Christian Mediation every Tuesday, 10am. Everyone is welcome.

Seniors Mass & Lunch
Mass will be celebrated at the Villa Madonna on Wednesday, October 13th at 11am, followed by lunch at noon. Cost is $10. Call the Villa (849-5125) to register.

Flea Market
St. Vincent de Paul will be holding their Annual Giant Flea Market in the Rocmaura Nursing Home Club Room on Saturday, October 16th from 10am – 2pm. Donations welcomed, and can be dropped off at 146 Waterloo Street. Call 634-3097 for more information.

Roast Beef Supper
St. Peter’s will be holding the supper in their hall on Saturday, October 16th from 4-6pm. Tickets cost $10 for adults; $5 for youths (12 and under); $25 for a family of 4 or more (parents and school-aged children). They are encouraging the purchase of tickets ahead of time, but there will be a limited number available at the door.

Concert
Six Days from Sunday are holding a concert at St. Joachim’s on Saturday, October 16th, 7pm. There will be a 50/50 draw, a Silent Auction and a Live Auction. A free-will offering will be collected – proceeds going towards a new sound system for the group.

Turkey Supper
Sacred Heart Church in Norton is holding their annual Fall Turkey Supper on Sunday, October 17th from 3-6pm. Cost is $10 Adults; $6 Children under 12; Preschoolers eat free. Take-out is available.

Parish Supper
Saint-Francois-de-Sales Parish, 77 Ragged Point Road, will be serving Roast Beef with all the trimmings on Sunday, October 17th from 4-6pm. Take-out is available. Cost: Adults $10; Children under 12 $5. For information or tickets call Donald (696-6118). Tickets also available at the door.

Country Supper
St. Mark’s, Quispamsis, will be holding an Old Fashioned Country Supper in Suburbia on Sunday, October 17th from 4-6pm. Menu includes picnic ham, potato scallop, home-made baked beans and rolls, pie, cake, and tea/coffee. Tickets are $10 Adults; $5 Children under 10. Tickets are available at the door, and proceeds go to the St. Mark’s Building Fund.
