Events taking place around Saint John over the next few weeks:
Concerts
The Saint John Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists will be hosting a National Mini-Convention from July 15th to 18th. The public is invited to attend the following events at St. Peter’s Church on Clarendon Street: a hymn festival on Sunday, July 15th at 7pm; an organ recital on Monday, July 16th at 10:30am; an organ recital and choral concert on Monday, July 16th at 7pm. On Tuesday, July 17th there will be two further organ recitals in Rothesay at Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 1:30pm and St. Paul’s Church at 2:45pm. Freewill offerings will be received at all these events.
Indoor Yard Sale
The Catholic Bookstore, Waterloo Street, will be having an Indoor Yard sale from July 16th – 21st. There will be great deals on books and giftware.
Mass For Those Living With Cancer
Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 6th, 7pm, at St. Pius X. Mass will be offered for the intention of people living with cancer and for their families and friends. The Sacrament of Anointing will take place following Mass for those who request it.
Fundraiser
Concert raising funds for organ and tissue donation will be held on Wednesday, August 8th, 7pm, at Portland United Church, off Millidge Avenue, featuring musicians from across NB, including NB Idol semi-finalist Mallory Parsons, Christopher Lane, Terri-Lynn Russell and other special guests from the Saint John area doing a mix of rock, pop and country from the past several decades. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.
Bible School
St. Peter’s, Clarendon Street, will be hosting Cat Chat, a Catholic Vacation Bible School. There will be activities, snacks, music and more. The Bible School will be held from Monday, August 12th – Thursday, August 16th, in their hall from 6 – 7:30pm each evening. There is no fee, but they request you pre-register (653-6844 or stpeters@nb.aibn.com).
Flea Market
There will be a Flea Market held in the Saint Joachim’s Parish Center, 603 Loch Lomond Road, on Saturday, August 18th, from 8am – 1pm. Table Rentals are $10 each. For more information, or to reserve a table, call Toby (696-1905).
Bingo
St. Joseph’s, 4347 Loch Lomond Road, will be holding their Parish Festival Bingo on Sunday, August 19th. Doors Open at 1:30pm, Early Birds start at 2:30pm and Regular Games at 3pm. Admission is $20, and includes 11 Regular Games of $100 and $1000 Jackpot Game. For tickets, call 653-6856.
Bingo
Stella Maris, Bayside Drive, will be holding a bingo game on Sunday, September 30th. Doors Open at noon; Early Bird Games at 1pm; Regular Games at 2pm. $1,000 Jackpot + nine regular games with second chance. Tickets are $20 and are available by calling Marie (696-8464), Betty (696-2095), or at the door.

Zumba
Ditch the workout, join the party – try Zumba every Monday and Wednesday from 7 – 8pm at St. Joachim’s parish hall, 603 Loch Lomond Road. Only $5 per person. Call Marie (696-8169) for more information.
Jam Session
Monday Night Country and Blue Grass Jam held at Stella Maris Church, Bayside Drive. Doors open at 5:30pm, music begins at 7pm. There is a $2 charitable donation to help defray heating costs. Christian Meditation
Everyone is welcome each Tuesday, 10am at the Villa Madonna.
Cards
Senior’s Cards at the St. Joseph’s Church HOPE Centre every Tuesday from 1- 3pm.
Prayer Group
The Crown of Glory prayer group meets every Tuesday at 7:30pm at St. Joachim’s.
Prayer Meeting
The Queen of Peace Catholic Prayer Group meets every Thursday at St. Peter’s Parish Hall, Clarendon Street, from 8 – 9:30pm. For more information, call Lorraine (847-2054) or Joan (635-5727). All are welcome.
K of C Bingo
Come out for a night of fun at the Knights of Columbus Bingo every Friday at St. Joachim’s. Doors open at 5pm. Early games start at 6:30pm; regular games at 7pm. Come and try your luck!
